FNB holding funds for 6 months – causing financial and emotional hardship
We have been struggling with FNB for over 6 months. Since switching from Capitec, my partner’s funds have never been released. Every time we contact the bank, they promise it’s fixed or tell him to open a new account — but nothing changes.
He has already opened two new accounts, and yesterday they told him to come back again today to open yet another account. He works for himself and is losing many hours of income every week, and now he cannot make any payments at all. Everything has fallen on me, and I am completely broke.
This situation is also putting stress on our relationship, because I no longer fully trust him to handle his finances, even though I encouraged him to move from Capitec to FNB — a choice I thought was best. My family has been with FNB for years through business trusts, and I have personally been with FNB for many years as well, yet this is how we are treated.
This is unacceptable. FNB needs to release the funds immediately and escalate this to a senior manager. Six months of empty promises is far too long, and it is causing real financial hardship and emotional stress.
