FNB- helping you from the pan into the fire

To whom it may concern,

I am contacting you to see whether there is any way FNB can assist me instead of making the last month of my life hell.

Some years ago I took out 3 different loans from FNB. Due to circumstances it became impossible for me to pay back and I was handed over to FNB legal. We came to an arrangement where R250 would be deducted monthly from your legal department. This amount was debited on and off. I received backpay from the department of education on the 9th of March 2018 and a large amount of money was paid into my account (2 months salary)- most of this money had to be payed back to the school I work.(R20 000) On the day R12 000 was debited from my account.

I phoned Fnb twice on the 9th of March. The 1st phone call was unsuccessful and I was told the money couldn't be refunded on questioning why the money was not debited from your side they could not answer me. I was unemployed from April 2016 to March 2017. I believe the moment that money was debited into my account as salary it should have been debited again. Not that the moment a large sum was paid in that such a huge debit should go through... this made my unable to pay back my employer the full amount owed. I made a new payment arrangement of R500 per loan to ensure this would not happen again.

My second phone call to FNB was more successful - I was told that unfortunately the money could not be fully refunded since I am owing you. They could however refund me R3000. I again made the payment arrangement of R500 per loan. To this day the R3000 rand was not refunded.

After receiving my salary- this month 28 March- R2000 has again been debited from my *** more than the agreed upon amount. I am now too scared to put any money in my cheque account!

I am the breadwinner in my household and the financial and emotional stress you are causing is severe. What is the use of an arrangement if my account is just deducted randomly? What is the point in saying i can be refunded but this hasn't happened? What is the point in phoning the loans department just to be transferred back and forth wasting more money on airtime? I feel like posting this on Hellopeter- otherwise it just gets ignored..

Please please assist me! Yours sincerely

Ms Carien van Tonder
