FNB have no idea how their own international transactions work

Beware of FNB when traveling as they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to international transactions, and when I say they have no idea, that is a statement of fact. I asked them...they said "We don't know". How it works is that when you swipe for a transaction outside of SA, an amount is "Held" against your credit card and, once this is reconciled, the "held" amount is release and the transaction amount is charged. FNB have a 2,5% charge for international swipes which I am aware of and am happy with. However...of the total spend of R 12 000 odd I racked up on holiday, FNB held R 35 000 meaning that I did not have access to an additional R 23 000 while abroad. I made FNB aware of this 7 days ago but have had little to no response. Today I called and spoke to a "manager" who informed me that I would need to sort it out myself with MSC...the irony is that this issue has not only occured on the MSC transactions but ALL my credit card transactions. In summary, FNB would rather make this my problem than resolve it themselves... FNB How can we help you?????
