FNB has been extremely nasty to me.
I am very upset with FNB. Slowly but surely, I am convinced this should be the end of the line and my relationship with FNB should end. This will be the last month my salary is paid into FNB,
I app**** for a further bond with FNB in June, they declined saying although there is affordability, I was declined because I skipped some payments last year (during COVID-19 lockdowns). Fair enough, I told the guy I will be switching to SA Homeloans, and he advised me to place a notice of cancellation so that I won't be charged cancellation fees.
I asked that gentleman how do I cancel, and he said he can do it for me. I asked him to cancel, and he confirmed he had done that for me, I repeatedly asked him should I not recieve an SMS or email, he said I should not worry, he had lodged the cancellation.
So I proceeded with my SAHomeloans switch as I had already been pre-approved. SAHomeloans was very fast, efficient and explained the whole process. FNB is slow, never answers phones and they absolutely cannot help you/or are very slow at it.
After FNB declined me, I began to see notification on the FNB App that I was pre-approved for a Premier Account, and I could qualify for a loan of R300,000. I don't understand why banks can be so EVIL, I app**** for a further bond so I can release some cash (up to R250K) to invest in my rental properties as I already have vacant land, but FNB declined. They would rather look into offering their clients unsecured BAD DEBTS at high interest. When you need the funds to invest in assets and money-generating ventures, they have problem with that? I don't want any loans and unsecured debt.
So today, I get a call from the lawyer, Joshila Desai, and they informed me FNB had charged me cancellation fees of R12756.99. I told the lawyer that's impossible because the FNB agent had told me if I place a notice before canceling, I won't be charged. The FNB agent confirmed he had placed cancellation and I won't be charged, So a few days after the FNB agent confirmed, I submitted my signed forms to SAHomeloans.
But today I learn they went ahead and added the cancellation fees anyways. This is highly ********* and evil for the bank to do. Their home loan agent was not transparent.
I would not have switched to SAHomeloans if FNB had considered even half the amount I needed. What forms the basis of these cancellation charges as I will be paying the full installment and insurance amounts they need? They just want to stifle me and delay my progress.
I have used FNB as my primary transactional account for the longest of times, since I graduated in 2010, and have some Capitec savings as well, but I am seriously considering opening a new Standard Bank account for my transactional needs. I don't understand how a bank can be so evil, heartless, uncompromising?
This is unfair and I realized with FNB, you are just another statistic, they don't care about clients because they already have millions of them. Although FNB has very good technology on their mobile App and branches, it breaks my heart that I have to consider leaving them as they have been very unfair and ruthless to me. I need these cancellation fees removed as they will into my budget for my property development.
