FNB - Good news or Poor Customer Service

I recently changed banks, from my old bank to FNB. I was informed by FNB (Saldanha Branch) consultant that she would ensure that the debit orders are switched from my old bank to FNB, and assured me that it will be done well before my salary is paid into my new FNB account. Two weeks later, my salary was paid into my new FNB account (a Wednesday), however no debit orders went off. I decided to give it a day or two, but still nothing. I managed to get to the bank the following Monday at the Langebaan Branch. When I enquired as to what the problem was, the FNB consultant informed me that no transaction took place that she could see on the system regarding the switching of debit orders. She then assisted me through the same process as before in terms of filling our documents for the switching of debit orders. She also advised me to contact the institutions that have debit orders with me, in order to make them aware that i had changed my banking details (which I did). I got a call yesterday to inform me (through a voice message) that FNB could not change the debit orders as they did not have enough details, but failed to explain what exactly they needed to rectify the problem. In the meantime, I am being reported to the credit bereau for missing a payment on my vehilce. Now I would understand if it was my fault the debit orders were not switched, but the fact that the Saldanha Branch consultant did not even have the apptitude to call me, as a new client (Premium Client), to inform me that she failed in changing the debit orders is beyond me (Lack of training or client service...you choose). And furthermore, when i was contacted, the necessary documentation or information that is needed to rectify the problem was not given through to me by the Langebaan branch consultant (Lack of training, not wanting to go through the effort, or just poor customer service.....you choose). And in the meantime, I look like the fool who "does not want to pay".

Was so excited in banking with FNB, but if this is the start, then I am not sure anymore. If there is a competant FNB consultant, who's focus is on customer satisfaction and is eager to solve my problem, please contact me ASAP, before I make up my mind on where to bank.

Regards

Mr A. Swart
