FNB, giving ****MERS a "High-Five"...!!!

What is the use of having a monthly paid for, bank account, or Virtual bank cards, with FNB, if they don't honor it?!

Already twice now, I have been ****med online, where I then immediately blocked my Virtual card used, preventing any amounts (various!) being debited off it, yet 5 days later, FNB still allowed said ****mer, to debit the Virtual card, I blocked days ago...

Ja.
So, half an hour ago, I received an SMS message from FNB, stating that this matter has been CLOSED.

This matter, has not even been addressed yet, but it's been CLOSED.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen of South Africa, this is how FNB deals with any of your complaints, regarding the way they manage (or don't manage), YOUR MONEY, that you trust them to look after...

So, "NextLog" (R73.99) took money off my bank card ****3010, on the 6th of June 2026, *****ulently.

I then reported it to FNB and they said that they will investigate and that I should cancel that Virtual Card (****3010), that the money was *****ulently debited from.

After a long time trying to get FNB to assist me (contacting them several times), a lady on the Secure Chat on FNB, told me to delete the Virtual Card, ending with ****3010, which I then did, on the 15th of June 2026, while talking to her.

Still NO INVESTIGATION and NO money returned to my bank account, since reporting this *****ulent matter, to FNB.

Now, 44 days since the 6th of June 2026 incident, I see on my bank, that on the 21st of July 2026, 2 amounts were *****ulently debited off my bank account, on the Virtual Card, I deleted on the 15th of June 2026.

One again, is for the "NextLog" (R73.99) business and another is for "ROOM Temp" (R194.99).
And this on a card, that I myself DELETED off the FNB system, on my Virtual Bank Card.

Just as a note to everyone reading this.
I always keep emails, documents, screenshot, phone calls, video recordings, voice records, etc of everything.
You never know when you'd need it, as proof.

I contacted the Secure Chat Team again, on the FNB mobile app, at 12:38 today (25 July 2026).
I was thrown between 4 different people, in a period of 1 hour, where nothing was resolved.
Do keep in mind, that today is Saturday, the 25th of July 2026.

Eventually, I got through to the FNB ***** Department, at 13:54.

I in detail, explained everything to the person on the line.
I assumed he was listening and taking notes.

I not only had to repeat myself several times over and over, but he kept on saying the same things over and over.
The conversation, wasn't going anywhere...FAST!

Eventually, after what was supposed to have been a one minute chat, turned out to be a 25 minute conversation, of me having to repeat myself (again I state that all my calls are recorded)...with him asking me the same questions, over and over.

He then gave me a reference number and said that they will investigate.
OK. Let's see if FNB actually does "INVESTIGATE" this *****ulent debits off my bank account and how long it takes for them to do it and if they actually WILL do it, this time.

Not only does FNB now owe me R342,97 (R73.99 + R194.99 + R73.99 = R342.97) but they must also explain, how it is possible for FNB to allow 2 (TWO!) different businesses, to take money off a VIRTUAL BANK Card, that was DELETED, on the 15th of June 2026 (44 days ago!).

I am almost 100% sure, that this is *****, on FNB's part...

I cannot afford anyone *****ing money from me, because I am not allowed to work...aka...I don't have a job.

I will now have to escalate this matter further...seeing that FNB doesn't not take *****ulent matters, seriously.

UPDATE – 19 AUGUST 2026: STILL NO REFUND, NO EXPLANATION AND NO RESOLUTION FROM FNB
It is now 19 August 2026, and this matter remains unresolved.

To summarise:On 6 June 2026, an unauthorised amount of R73.99 (NextLog) was processed against my FNB Virtual Card ending ****3010.

I reported it to FNB.

On 15 June 2026, Virtual Card ****3010 was permanently deleted through the FNB Banking App.

Yet on 21 July 2026, more than a month AFTER that Virtual Card had been deleted, another R73.99 (NextLog) and R194.99 (ROOM Temp) were processed against the same deleted Virtual Card.

Total disputed amount: R342.97.

I reported the matter again to FNB on 25 July 2026 after spending approximately an hour being transferred between four representatives on Secure Chat, followed by a lengthy conversation with the relevant department.

FNB also responded to this HelloPeter complaint and confirmed that a formal complaint had been logged under reference ***NF.

The complaint was subsequently marked CLOSED.

Yet FNB has still not:
  • refunded my R342.97;
  • provided me with the outcome of its investigation;
  • explained how transactions were processed against a Virtual Card that had already been permanently deleted;
  • or adequately addressed the security concern I originally reported.

So exactly WHAT was "closed"?

I have now formally escalated this matter to FNB in writing and requested a substantive response and resolution within 7 business days.

I have also asked FNB to explain specifically whether these transactions were processed as recurring transactions, card-on-file transactions, merchant-initiated transactions, through merchant/card updater facilities, or by some other mechanism — and why deletion of Virtual Card ****3010 did not prevent the transactions from being processed.

If FNB does not resolve the matter, my next step will be referral of the complete matter and supporting evidence to the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa – Banking Division.

The R342.97 is not going to bankrupt FNB.It is also not going to bankrupt me.That is not the point.

The point is that customers should be entitled to know why money can leave their bank accounts through card credentials they have already reported as compromised and subsequently deleted — and they should be entitled to an actual investigation and answer when they report it.

I have retained the screenshots, transaction records, complaint references and records relating to my interactions with FNB.

I am still waiting, FNB.

UPDATE – 1 SEPTEMBER 2026: FNB HAS STILL DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

On 19 August 2026, I formally escalated this complaint to FNB yet again.

I gave FNB 7 business days to provide a substantive written response and resolution.

That deadline has now expired.

FNB has not refunded the disputed R342.97.

FNB has not provided the outcome of its investigation.

FNB has not explained how two transactions were processed on 21 July 2026 against Virtual Card ****3010, despite that Virtual Card having been permanently deleted on 15 June 2026.

FNB has not explained why complaint reference ***NF was previously marked closed while the matter remained unresolved.

In fact, since my formal escalation of 19 August, I have received no substantive response whatsoever. The original unauthorised transaction dates back to 6 June 2026.It is now 1 September 2026.

Almost three months later, I am apparently still expected to simply wait.

I have today sent FNB a final notice before external escalation.

If FNB continues to ignore this complaint or fails to provide an actual resolution, I will now refer the complete matter, together with my supporting evidence and correspondence, to the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa – Banking Division.

This stopped being merely about R342.97 a long time ago.

It is about how money was permitted to leave my account through a Virtual Card that had already been reported as compromised and permanently deleted — and why FNB has still not provided an explanation.

I have given FNB repeated opportunities to resolve this directly.

I will not continue waiting indefinitely.
