FNB Gestapo methods.
I am 76 years old and have been banking with FNB for some 45 years. On the 28th of April I tried to add money to my Trust Acc only to realise that my acc was on hold. Now my wife is very sick with cancer and the last thing I want is to not have sufficient funds in my account on the 1st ofMay to pay our Discovery debit order. So after much phoning around and finally finding out that my business manager was Zimbini Tshekla .I tried a few times to contact her, no joy. Then Tina answered and told me they wanted a FICA document.....My mothers death certificate.......Now she died in 1985.....and they want the certificate in 2 days or no chemo for my wife!!!!!!! I explained that I was some 300 Km from Cape Town and could not reasonably expect the valuable doc. on such notice. She tried to get through to the FiCA people in JHB but there was no answer. So then I looked back at any emails or SMS that FNB may have sent and on the 5th of May, I found an SMS that I had overlooked ...with a Ref No and Phone Number. So I eventually ran out of voice and 35 min later spoke to Uzna Pillay who could do nothing except pass it on to another dept. So I asked to speak to her manager.........she said she would get her to phone me.....she never did. AnywayI eventually got my daughter in Cape Town to drive around to my house and open my office and after hours of scratching, she eventually emailed the document to me. Now I waisted another half hour trying to get back to Pillay and she gave me the email address to which I sent the blessed document Now I want to know from FNB why could you not wait until I was back in Cape Town on Monday the 6th as I so requested. Why the Gestapo attitude? Are these matters so very important or is it a case of some frustrated angry malevolent person hitting back at the world? If it was really so important why not pick up the phone.....Hello Mr Willis.......we need this document.........not a silly SMS.....Or is it a case of harsh rules to which the employees are forced to follow? I will proceed to cancel all my accounts and find an organisation operating in a kind caring mode. Regards, L Willis
