FNB- Frozen Account WITHOUT notice - Left Stranded

Today, (on a Saturday, around midday when banks have closed), my husband attempted to pay for Petrol and finds out his account has been frozen and is left stranded.

We call to find out that this has been done because we need to update documents. We received NO SMS, NO EMAIL AND NO PHONE CALL notification. I went to check all our phone and email accounts and there is nothing. If we had known we would have happily sorted this out as we visit the bank regularly for other accounts.

I tried to contact the call center and it had to take 4 PEOPLE and calls until I found 1 PERSON that at least attempted to help me but the only solution is to get find an OPEN BRANCH on MOTHER's DAY weekend. Thanks for spoiling mother's day too!

They even admitted that the only notice they CLAIM to have sent was in OCTOBER 2014 - more than 6 months ago! That's more than enough notice to leave someone stranded on a weekend the following year, right?!

How can FNB do this to a LOYAL CLIENT. My son was in the emergency room earlier this week, luckily the account hadn't been frozen yet, BUT what if we were stranded unable to pay for his MEDICAL CARE!!!

Unacceptable!! I am considering other banks!
