FNB: ********** and *******
My father passed away in May and his life cover on the bond was paid out on the 15th June. Fnb then charged us 2 months bond money and told me, we were laible due to the fact that we didn't submit proof of payment, only to find out proof of payment was received and the employee who received it resigned. I was then assisted by Kathleen Erasmus, who informed me of the error made on fnb's end, she proceeded to assist me and the bond was finally paid up and the over due payment was refunded to the late estate account. However the amount refunded was incorrect, I then asked Kathleen for a statement and noticed that after the bond as paid in full fnb proceed to charge interest and service fees I also noticed that the bond insurance went off, which wasn't supposed to. However Kathleen managed to find the situation with the insurance after being told its not "rocket science". I then enquired about the interest and service charges that was charged and informed her that it needed to be refunded as the bond was paid in full on the 15th June and we are not liable for any charges thereafter. She explained that the interest would be written off, however I explained that it cannot be written off as it was already deducted from the refund amount paid into the late estate account and those charges need to be refunded or else fnb would be committing ***** for taking money not due to them and then writting it off. I also explained that if this isn't "rocket science" why am I still dealing with this issue and fnb is still trying to fix it 5 months later after my father's death.
This was the response emailed to me "No it’s definitely not rocket science, but it will be resolved
Regards
Kathleen"
The matter has still not been resolved and now this person has refused to respond to me with regards to the refund.
FNB is truly a ********** bank, if it wasn't for my banking back ground and knowing about suspense account and the help of Nedbank who informed me of the consultant they dealt with, fnb would have ****** us blind and taken or house.
I have read acticals of people losing their homes because of bank *******ion and reselling it to make a profit, I didn't believe it, until I ended up in this nightmare and now the funds won't be refunded even though they admitted to it being their fault and that's what I can't understand.
You charge interest after the 15 June 2022, all that interest needs to be refunded into the late estate account as again fnb did not allocate the bond payment in time. A fault fnb picked up on. Then I got told the interest would be written off and was never refunded, where is the funds and if it is written off and not returned doesn't that mean fnb is scoring free money. This is so *******!
I'll probably be going to the banking ombudsman. At this point fnb is disgusting and again this is not how you deal with a grieving family
