FNB *****; FNB CARD; FNB COMPLAINTS
On the 28th of January 2021 I accompanied my uncle to the Mall@Reds FNB branch to enquire about transactions that were taking place on his accounts that he was not aware of. He was referred to the ***** division. No response was received from FNB with regards to this matter until a complaint was laid with them in April. The response from FNB was that he would be refunded a certain amount into his cheque account and that the refund was not an admission of wrongdoing by the bank but was done in good faith.
In May he received “Notice in Terms of Section 129(1)(a) of the National Credit Act of 2005 (NCA)” dated 19th April from the bank demanding that he is required make a payment to a revolving loan account; this account was fully settled and a request for the closure of the account was made in 2018. The outstanding amount is higher than the amount the bank refunded him. A response letter through an email was sent to the bank querying this matter on the 22nd of June. The letter sent was for the bank to explain why the client is liable when a ***** case against this account has been lodged.
To date no response or contact has been received. We have followed up telephonically several times and each time we are told that someone will get in touch with the client.
This is unacceptable and very poor service from FNB
FNB the below response received is unacceptable. Your reiteration does not provide a solution or address the whole matter. You have addressed only a part of it.
“ Thank you for writing to us and we acknowledge the receipt of your complaint.
We would like to reiterate that the sum of R 8,900.00 was refunded to you on 30 April 2021, as a gesture of goodwill. The payment is made without any admission of liability by the Bank, and the Bank?s rights remain reserved. Please note the amount that was refunded is the full value of the ***** that occurred as reported on January 28, 2021 .
To enquire about the outstanding balance or any matters related to the revolving loan kindly contact the revolving loan department on ***. “
