FNB *****
We went to FNB on Saturday to open a savings account for our 9 month old baby girl. On doing so we found out that there is already been an account opened on her id number. The account was opened by my husbands father which we have no contact with whatsoever. He somehow got hold of a picture of her birth certificate and went to FNB in Winburg and opened an account and the bank put on their records that he is the legal guardian. We as parents had to give the bank the original Birth certificate in order to open a saving account for our own child.
Now we can't do anything because all accounts for her id number is linked to my husbands father. FNB can't deliver proof that he submitted a original birth certificate. How can the bank open an account in our child's name without any consent from the parents or original or ever certified copies of documents . There is no proof that he is the legal guardian.
According to me this is ***** from the banks side. How can they allow this to happen.
