FNB forcing businesses to vet customers before taking payment - frozen funds
I called FNB after noticing that there is a difference between my available and balance, some cash was frozen for some reason.
After calling and founding out that Standard Bank flagged suspicious activity in one of my many customers bank accounts which resulted in FNB freezing the funds in our account. We are minding our own business, selling things and our bank decides we are guilty of something until we prove ourselves innocent.
After being transferred and having many conversations I was given an email address and asked to go to the police station to get an affidavit stating that we did not know where our customer received his funds from. We attached that to order confirmations, invoices and whatsapp chats confirming the order and proving the stock was delivered through customer signatures. We emailed it to FNB and then fully ghosted with money in our account still frozen 1 week later. Years of business banking, this is how we are treated.
