FNB - First Non-caring Bank? That is what the level of service suggests
This review is specifically in regard to FNB tax free share trading, together with the FNB private clients service, through which I have tried to get a share trading account cancelled, after sending several messages via the online banking platform, and no receiving any feedback. There are several points in this review that reflect negatively on FNB: - First, what used to be a Tax Free share trading account, which allowed clients to buy or sell shares of the 2 types included in that portfolio, was converted without notification into a Tax Free "savings" account, and the functionality to buy and sell just removed. So, basically this account now just funds their own investment company, in their own way: Ashburton investments, as all they use your money for, is to buy their ETFs, at a specific time regardless of whether the price is up or down. If you have money to invest, rather go elsewhere, as with them you have no say, they can change the rules when they want to without notification, and every month you are paying fees for them to do this. - Second, because of the above, I decided to cancel my account, and what should be a straightforward process has become a long process of messages sent and ignored, delay tactics when replying describing non-existing functionality for the client to close the account by themselves, or plainly just replying saying that a request has been closed, but without actually attending to that request. The service is so bad, that it only makes sense if FNB actually means "First Non-caring Bank".
So, I hope that if you got to read this because you were considering investing with FNB, you decide to go elsewhere, as based on the experience I had with their private banking staff as well as share trading, all that you would get would be bad service, frustration, and your money won't grow enough to even beat inflation.
For FNB management, I hope you analyse this and understand and demand from your staff, that excellent service is essential, as with social media your clients do have a voice, and it can cost you to treat your clients, whether rich or poor, like if they mean nothing.
