FNB - Executors of an estate
One would think that if you setup your will through FNB and assign them as executors of your estate that the day that you pass away your loved ones will be taken care off and your affairs will be handled by FNB. That is however not always true. If your estate has no fixed assets like houses or cars they will simply decline the role of executor of the estate. “Sorry but the departed estate has no fixed assets, FNB declines the role of executor of the estate.” Then they courier the documents to your grieving loved ones and simply forget about you and your loved ones. It does not matter if you were a customer with them for over 30 years and entrusted them with your affairs. They simply don’t care. This was the case with Mr. Nigel John Smallridge (ID: ********** 513182) who passed away this year in June. He left behind his life partner, my mother, who now has to struggle with the affairs of his estate even after FNB assured him that everything will be taken care of in the event of his death. I guess FNB lying to a person while his alive will not come back to bite you when he dies. I mean it’s not like the deceased will know, right? Just leave his grieving family to sort that out. I am sure you will have a thousand reasons why you could not handle the estate, but it all boils down to this “he trusted you to handle his affairs and you betrayed him”. I guess there is not enough “money to be made” if there are no fixed assets. I mean you have not even blocked his bank account or informed any of his depositors that he has been deceased. You still send him bank statements. Are you serious? FNB you should really change your moto to “how can’t we help you”, because caring for your customers is definitely not on your list of priorities. Especially after they have passed away.
