Fnb Early Deductions in December

Herewith, I wish to express my utter dismay in Fnb's practice of early debit order deductions in December! This year the bank deducted debit orders as early as 22 December, 9 days before month end! This is absolutely absurd and unfair towards many customers who only get paid on 31 December! I do believe this is an *******, "ultra vires" practice and a breach of contract, as all my debit orders are based on an agreement between me and the bank or other third parties that my debit orders are to go off on the last day of each month! Every year its the same old story of notifying the bank not to deduct payments early, as there are no funds in my account or contacting them afterwards and explain why debit orders failed in order to avoid banking charges. This is an absolute rediculous, unfair practice of the bank to say the least, as not everybody is so fortunate to get paid early on the 15th of December. As pensioner, who receive a mediocre pension income only on the last day of each month, I'm sure I speak on behalf of lots of other people who are in the same position as me, who only receive their pension or income on 31 December. The reason behind these early deductions, as mentioned by one of your consultants, is to avoid non payments at the end of December by clients who over spend their money during the Christmas period and do not have enough funds at the end of December to cover their debit orders. Well, in my case this is absolutely not applicable, as I only receive my pension on 31 December and it is totally impossible to spend or overspend money you dont have before you get your income! I have made numerous requests to the bank not to deduct early debit orders on Secure Chat as well as per emails to no avail. Please refer to: On 30 Nov 2021 at 18:05 Nkululeko on Secure Chat assured me that my debit orders will go off on the normal date of 31 December; You are also refered to my emails to Mr R.B. Jacobs and Mr Mapanga dated 02 & 05 December 2021. However, all my above attemps were in vain and one hell of a frustration, as a debit order from Direct Axis went off yesterday 22 December, immediately after I made a deposit into cheque account. For your information, I've made this deposit specifically in order to pay off extra monies on my loan accounts as well as to pay my utility accounts in advance for January, as it is a long difficult month. I'm mentioning this so that you can realise for yourself that I am a responsible client. Paying my debts has always been a first priority and if you take the time to look at my profile you will notice that I'm also paying extra on my loans for months now, in order to redeem them earlier! These are facts that you dont even take into consideration as a bank, as you dont know or appreciate your valued clients! I don't expect you to reverse the Direct Axis debit order anymore, as the damage has already been done and my respect for your bank's poor service in this whole ordeal has just taken another knock! I suggest that Fnb start with a process of personalised banking service, whereby for instance people like pensioners and other workers, who only get paid on the last day of each month be exempted from this early debit order deductions in December. This practice is totally unfair and unacceptable!

This is now 8 days since my complaint on 23 December and this matter has still not been resolved! I got a call from a fnb lady in connection with the reversal of Direct Axis debit order of R1882 and she said that the R40 reversal charge will be reversed, but according to my cheque account there is no sign of reversal of this R40! As you know, this reversal cannot be blamed on me, but it can be blamed solely on Fnb & Direct Axis not adhering to my requests of not deducting early debit orders!
I was also informed after my complaint that I will be contacted by Fnb who will resolve this matter, but nobody phoned me in this regard!
All I can say is, I'm getting sick and tired of this messing up of my money matters on my cheque account as well as this absolute poor level of service from Fnb and I'm seriously considering changing banks to Absa, as soon as my financial position permits me!
