FNB doesn't provide consumer protection from *****ulent eWallet services
Appalling customer service from FNB and FNB ***** department.
I am not satisfied with the response from FNB customer service. Besides the fact that it took FNB ***** almost 6 months to come to a conclusion that could have been made without the running around and paperwork, FNB is not applying the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 with regard to eWallet services and ***** cases.
Under the consumer protection act I have the right to fair and honest dealing. I do not pay MTN for access to the eWallet service and eWallet services are automatically activated on registered mobile numbers by FNB. Furthermore, I pay banking fees and eWallet fees to FNB each time I send or need to receive a withdrawal code. So, I fail to understand why FNB assumes they can absolve themselves from providing security and surety around their own services.
The consumer protection act also provides the right to fair value, good quality and safety. Since eWallet is an FNB service, the responsibility for consumer safety sits with FNB.
However, FNB refuses to take responsibility and will not reimburse me through the banks insurance for theft that occurred on their systems, and where the consumer has shown no wrong doing.
