FNB doesn't care about pensioners - unwilling to help client with 70 years loyalty to the bank
We (my elderly father and I) have been trying for nearly 4 months to get someone at FNB to activate his replacement credit card. His card was ****** and we had to cancel it. It then took a lot of phone calls (none of which provided a resolution) and finally ordering an 'additional' card online for him to get a new card. Since he received the card we have been unable to activate it as it is not linked to his bank account, so it can't be done through online banking and he does not have a cell phone. The numerous phone calls to the call centre and being passed from pillar to post have resolved nothing. The last phone call was over an hour long, got us passed to five different people and after all that we ended up at the call centre where we had started with not one person able to help us. I eventually went into Rosebank branch to try and get this resolved, but after an hour waiting at the bank I was told to leave while they try sort it out so I left with assurances (from a lovely helpful lady) that I would be phoned that day or at the latest the next day with an update. This was last Monday and I am still waiting with baited breath for the update. Of course FNB is quite happy to be charging a monthly fee for a credit card they will not activate. I guess it's time for me to get a credit card for my father from a bank that actually cares about it's loyal customers.
