FNB does not give a young professional person a chance to obtain credit of any sort!
My son moves his account from Capitec Bank to FNB a year ago to be able to build a good history with the bank and hopefully build a credit score. He app**** for a credit card or personal loan. FNB declined him. They said that he must open a consumer account to build his credit score. he did that and his debit order goes off every month. He is an accountant clerk, soon to qualify as an accountant. He earns R8500pm and he has no adverse listings or judgments. FNB declined him again today and told him that he is considered high risk! He will be closing his account with FNB today. I hope that anybody that reads this will run far away from FNB and send them to hell.

03 Feb 2021, 17:18Good day
My son was contacted yesterday afternoon by FNB. They explained to him that he does not qualify for an overdraft facility, although he has been earning a fixed income for more than 2 years.
My son was notified by the FNB person that he qualifies for a personal loan of R7000.00 and that he would be contacted today.
My son was not contacted. He eventually phoned FNB and had to go through the whole identification sequence again as well as financial questions etc.
My son was informed by the Person that he does not "Meet the Criteria" We asked to be put in touch with a manager who can explain the criteria to us, as my son does have an up to date Woolworths account for more than a year, he is clear on ITC and has more than R5000pm disposable income.
This manager was unable to explain what criteria my son did not meet and simply said he must apply for more debt at other companies, but not FNB. as they are not prepared to give him a personal loan of R7000.00 although he was informed yesterday that it is approved on the system.
Is this the way FNB does business? My son is 21, he has qualifications, he is in a stable career, busy doing his articles to become an accountant, and you decline a loan application for R7000?
Your manager simply says the system says he does not meet the criteria, which the manager herself can not explain.
Shame on FNB
