FNB does NOT care about anything other than their bottom line!

I've been renting a private property from FNB for almost 2 years now. Before then, it had been standing empty for years on end just becoming more ruined and derelict. I have never missed a rental payment nor ever been late with a rental payment. The property is now better maintained and now looks far better than it ever did with well maintained gardens etc. I would say that I'm a really good tenant.

Well, in light of the country's current pandemic situation I proactively contacted FNB property management to advise them that I am in the Tourism & Hospitality industry (I own a small B&B) and that my income is directly impacted by this lockdown. Things are going to get rough and in the event that I am unable to make my rent please can an arrangement be made i.e. use my deposit, get a relief and then pay higher rental amounts later to catch up etc. Do I have any options and is there anything we can do here. I was hoping to come to an agreeable arrangement but instead this was the reply I got: (FYI my lease agreement is till 30 June 2020 and my rental payments are due by the 7th of each month.)

"Please note that management has advised that unfortunately if you unable to make your rent payment then you need to vacate the property.

Please can you advise if you can make your April payment and you can vacate end of April otherwise it needs to be an immediate vacation"

Firstly, if I'm evicted immediately where do I find a place in 24hrs, where do I go during a pandemic crises and how the hell should I get there with the country in lockdown? Secondly, I can see that they are preempting my loss of income over the next 21 days so now I'm evicted as of end April?

This not only feels unreasonable but suitably unfair and immoral considering the current circumstances we find ourselves in. The bond on our business (B&B) is also with FNB - I don't expect any help on that one either. So, by the end of this crises when many businesses and people may find themselves losing their properties etc. is this how FNB plans on coming out on top and benefiting after all?

Don't expect any empathy from FNB as a big corporate during a time of crises. They will continue to bleed you dry...
