FNB didnt include mandatory debt insurance

FNB has not been very supportive in being upfront regarding my contracts with them. I have asked for my credit agreement for my cheque account due to the fact that I have an overdraft. I complained and the lady would responded to me was very hostile because even when I queried the interest rates she neglected to show she investigated my concerns and confirm that they have improved. She also boldy told me that I don’t have debit insurance on the overdraft if I was retrenched or something happened to me.

I find this strange because after trying to do some investigation on this, surely there was a rule around 2016/2017 that made credit insurance mandatory? I don’t recall declining such a request. because it begs the question that with the state of the country with many people losing their jobs, where does that leave me. That sounds negligent from them. I need someone knowledgeable to actually give me comprehensive information because the call centre is a nightmare and some of the staff don’t even know what a credit agreement is. one had the audacity to tell me to go to a branch to get a copy of my credit agreement.

If I am retrenched I need to know what to do and what I can do. And if fnb hasn’t provisioned for insurance on my debt, why would that be?

and getting this information was such a pain. you may have different departments but your complaints handlers should be able to give me paperwork without a back and forth that is pertaining to my account. hence i from now on log my credit card and cheque card queries separately since your convenience is most important is this relationship.

i cannot log a separate complaint for the credit card division. this is regarding the credit card service experience. which though terrible turnaround time was far better than what i have been getting lately.

I had to complaint more than once to receive my credit agreement, I was told I have credit insurance, the complaints agent called me last week and told me she would refer the complaint urgently so that I can get the paper work regarding the credit insurance so that I can see what I am covered for. I am yet to receive that information. This is a time sensitive matter and I need all my paperwork. I have called in and I have complained directly with FNB I am really exhausted by this. it’s a difficult time for everyone and I need peace of mind so that I know where I stand so that I can claim accordingly.

you still have not resolved his matter. you still have not sent me my documents. this matter is outstanding since 7th July. please give me the rules regarding the ombudsman because you are treating me unfairly and surely i have given you enough time to sort this matter out.
