FNB ***** Department
I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction and frustration with the way FNB has handled a recent unauthorized transaction on my account, as well as the overall service I have received from your ***** department. On 13 December 2025 I attempted to settle an import tax of R15.99, which was the exact amount shown on the app and for which I gave approval. However, to my shock and dismay, nearly R9,000 was withdrawn from my account without my authorization. I immediately contacted your helpline, and while my account was secured promptly, the subsequent handling of this serious issue has been nothing short of unacceptable. For four days, this *****ulent transaction remained pending with no resolution or meaningful communication from your side. Instead of receiving assistance, I was sent a “Dear John” letter stating that nothing could be done. This response is not only inadequate but also deeply insensitive, especially considering the severe impact such a loss has on vulnerable customers who rely on their funds for daily necessities such as food. I fail to understand why, despite paying some of the highest monthly banking fees in the market, FNB appears to lack the urgency, empathy, and effective security measures to protect its customers from *****. What support do you offer to customers who are de*****ed and left without recourse? Are we merely seen as sources of income rather than valued clients deserving of protection and respect? I demand a thorough review of my case, a clear explanation of why the transaction reversal was denied, and immediate steps to rectify this situation. Furthermore, I urge FNB to improve its ***** handling processes and customer communication to prevent such distressing experiences from recurring. I expect a prompt and satisfactory response to this complaint. Should this matter not be resolved adequately, I will have no choice but to escalate it to the relevant banking ombudsman and consumer protection authorities.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction upon receiving the second refute letter from FNB concerning the *****ulent transaction on my account. Frankly, I am left questioning the effectiveness and commitment of FNB’s *****line service.
It is bewildering that despite the clear evidence of *****, the response from your side seems limited to merely securing the account. Surely, as a major financial institution, FNB must have the capability to trace *****ulent transactions, reverse them, and collaborate with law enforcement agencies such as SAPS or the SIU to bring the perpetrators to justice. Is this not the fundamental expectation from your *****line service?
Are ordinary citizens like myself simply expected to bear the financial losses caused by such ****s? I am certain I am not the first customer to fall victim to a *****ulent MAKRO ONLINE purchase. This recurring issue raises serious concerns about the adequacy of your ***** prevention and resolution processes.
To add to my frustration, my husband, who banks with ABSA, experienced a similar *****ulent incident six months ago. ABSA promptly secured the transaction, reversed the funds, and ensured no loss was incurred. This stark contrast in service quality is deeply disappointing and calls into question the level of care and protection FNB provides to its clients.
FNB, is this truly the service you deliver to your customers? I demand a thorough review of my case, immediate action to reverse the *****ulent transaction, and clear communication on the steps you are taking to prevent such incidents in the future.
I look forward to your prompt and satisfactory response.
Yours sincerely,
Amanda Povey
