FNB - Deliberately keeping you indebted for a longer period by removing Fixed Installment payment method for credit card
I called into the Premier Credit Card division, requesting them to put me on a monthly fixed payment option instead of the minimum instalment payment - so that I pay the outstanding balance quicker.
I was informed this payment method is no longer available. This is only available to consumers whose credit cards are handed over to collections... I am trying to be proactive in paying down the outstanding balance faster, since I do not utilize the credit card anymore, but it seems the bank has taken this opportunity away from the consumer in favor of having the reduction of the outstanding balance reduce at a slower pace (via the MIP option). Why is this payment option only available to consumers whose accounts are handed over to collections???
I enquired for the account details I need in order to pay extra every month into the account (since the bank clearly does not want to make this a seamless less administrative process), and your consultant said he would put me through to collections and they will advise. Based on my previous experience consulting with your credit card collections department, they do not touch accounts that are not handed over to them. And I thus informed your consultant of this - he then said he could not help with giving me these account details.
My online banking profile is blocked. My currently active credit card is also blocked as I do not know the pin due to my not using it for a long time. I have no interest in unblocking the online banking profile nor the credit card as this is to my benefit and strategy to paying down the facility at a quicker rate - since I no longer have easy access to transact on the credit facility via the banking app.
