FNB Declined to pay!!!

Hi,

I was ****med at an ATM in Butterworth. On the 20th of March around 6am I went to withdraw some money at an FNB ATM, upon punching my pin I received an error, I tried again and the same error reappeared, I tried a different machine and it said my card had been cancelled.

Few minutes later I received an in-contact of a R5000 withdrawal from a different ATM than the one I tried at. And because the ATM had already said my card had been declined I didn't think it was necessary to call and so I waited for the branch to open at 9am to report the matter.

My case was forwarded to the head office to which it came back declined, they claim I didn't report the issue early enough.

When I arrived at the ATM there was a guy (when they checked the CCTV they also saw him), the same guy was caught with a stash of bank cards and arrested on the same day.

FNB can clearly see that I was ****med but they are refusing to pay me back my money which amounts to R9400 (including some that he purchased groceries with).

I believe FNB should be liable for the security of their ATMs, they can't say I was negligent when all I did was insert my card and punch a pin as per usual. What measures do they put in place to ensure that the cards can't be cloned??

After making me wait for 10 days, they came back with an excuse that I was negligent??
