FNB credit checks are non existent

I am seriously dismayed at how easy it is to change your marital details online on your FNB account and then qualify for high loans, revolving credit, credit cards, increased overdraft etc without your spouses consent (community of property) with no need to prove your marital status. By law, if you are married community of property, debt is shared. Legally, I am still married to my spouse even though we are technically separated. My estranged spouse changed his marital status in May 2018, and then conveniently increased his overdraft, took out a further R 200 000.00 FNB loan and a credit card. While we were still "happily" married, and his status showed married, FNB allowed him to have a R 25 000.00 overdraft, and a R 39 000.00 revolving credit without my knowledge or consent. No questions asked. This did cause a problem in our home, although when you are married to a manipulator, they find ways to make the situation sound like it is "beneficial" for the marriage. But with a High Court Rule 43 maintenance order in place, my estranged husband has broken it, stating he cannot afford to pay. Yet he is living a high life. His bank account cannot be attached as it is reflecting as "in debit". So almost a year trying to get maintenance for our innocent 4 year old child, my estranged husband lives like a king while I suffer financially. FNB allowed this to happen. No proper credit checks were done. Technically, my estranged husband is insolvent. His expenses are high. He has 2x Nedbank credit cards (over R 3000.00 per month), a FNB credit card, a FNB revolving credit of R 39 000.00 (over R 1200.00 per month), a R 42 200.00 overdraft on his FNB Platinum cheque account, a R 200 000.00 FNB loan (over R 6000.00 per month), a double cab bakkie with MFC for over R 5000.00 per month etc etc etc. This is well over a third of his salary for these debts alone. In almost a year, my daughter has only received R 500.00 maintenance from her father. I earn a third of his salary, yet I am forced to cover all our child's expenses on my own as well as be responsible for a Capitec Loan I took with his consent to pay his debt in 2013 (which works out to almost half my salary). FNB would not assist me with a loan to settle Capitec and help with my huge legal bills (which my estranged husband has caused). My credit rating is now almost non existent and his is almost perfect. FNB has to wake up here. They need to investigate their clients before allowing this situation to happen to more innocent single parents. Its disgusting. Capitec Bank gets thumbs up from me for protecting my best interests. They are so strict which back then, I thought was so uncalled for, but now I feel blessed knowing that they actually had my best interests at heart.
