FNB Credit Card department *********** and "you have to call us back" system is disgusting
I have only been with FNB for a month and I am already furious with their service. I left Standard Bank thinking that it would be better but it's the devil you know. I app**** for a credit card and it has been a nightmare. The woman that signed me up for the account set me and said that the bank would contact me. I will explain the process. But first I am f-ing livid at how many times I have been told to call them back. Beyond furious that I am expected to call them when I am the customer. I have had several experiences where they "call" me, I don't answer and I immediately get an SMS's saying that I have to call them. This has confused me because I get these missed call notifications without actually getting the call. However, on Friday I realised by coincidentally looking at my phone that they hang up the calls BEFORE they actually let it ring or just as it starts to. Their staff call but end the call before anyone can answer. This has happened on so many occasions now that I think it is actually intentional at this point. On the one time I called back it was to tell me that I must just keep waiting for my debit card so I was furious about that waste of time and money. I was told me to do what I was already doing. I am pretty sure that FNB has a lot more money than me and this has the attitude of "them doing me a favour" as opposed to treating me like a customer. Now for the credit card: 1. Call from FNB to finalise the credit card application. They get my salary wrong and tell me that they have to call me back because they will have to reevaluate with my correct salary. 2. End having to call FNB but get someone to call me back who rudely said that the phone calls they make cost them money too (seriously, my salary versus FNB's profits?). I then do the application through this guy who continued to be passive aggressive and said that nothing was logged in the system from the previous call. 3. Get a phone call about the first application who had now gotten my details right. I inform them that I have already app**** and that they need to speak to their colleagues and sort this out because don't want two credit cards. 4. Get a call from the second group of people saying that the application has been accepted and that the card will be couried to me in 5-7 days. I must have all my documents ready etc. I am still waiting for this. 5. Get one of those **** "missed calls" and another SMS saying I must call them again. I, like an idiot, actually did that. Sat on the phone for 5 minutes on hold when I finally get through to someone and the call is dropped. Someone needs to call me and allow the phone to ring, and if the phone call is unanswered the first time try and call back at least once, which I think is standard, courteous procedure. I'm really hoping that this whole thing has not lapsed and that I will have to start the process all over again because this is ridiculous. This bank was supposed to be the best in South Africa and I am not seeing it.
