Fnb core values are a lie
FNB’s own failure to update my debt-review status on time has caused serious financial harm to me and my family.
Even after I had been cleared from debt review, FNB’s systems still affected my credit profile. I was declined for more affordable credit such as bond refinancing, yet FNB still granted me high-cost unsecured loans that I am still paying today.
I also informed FNB that my income had changed because I was on a learnership and no longer earning the same allowances and overtime as before. Despite this, I was left with unaffordable repayments.
FNB admitted to the National Financial Ombud Scheme that my debt-review status was not updated on time. Now I am the one carrying the damage, the legal costs, and the financial stress.
FNB’s values mean nothing if ordinary customers suffer because of the bank’s own system failures.
FNB, logging another complaint is pointless when this matter has already been running for years and is currently before the National Consumer Tribunal.
My complaint is not new. The issue is that FNB failed to update my debt-review status on time, and I suffered the consequences. I was auto-declined for secured credit while FNB still allowed me to take high-cost unsecured loans that I am paying for today.
What is most painful is that there are supporting emails and records from FNB’s own staff confirming issues with debt-review flags on my profile, yet FNB continues to defend this matter through expensive lawyers instead of taking proper accountability.
FNB claims to live by values such as transparency, fairness and Ubuntu, but my lived experience has been the opposite. Even if FNB manages to win this case because it has money and legal power, the evidence, the contradictions, and the harm caused to me will remain public knowledge.
I want FNB to understand that this is not just a complaint reference number. This is my life, my family, my credit profile, and my financial future that were affected by FNB’s own system failures.
