FNB Connect: The new *********** idiot in town!

How is it that in 2016, in a metropolitan city, porting your cellphone number to another cellular network is the most tedious and inconvenient task to do. Even getting a passport from Home Affairs is more efficient. Usually it takes 6-48 hours (with other networks), but not in my latest experience switching from Telkom Mobile to FNB Connect. I was hoping that FNB would be different - quicker, more efficient, more cost effective, comprehensively convenient. I was completely wrong!

I ported my cellphone number at the Fourways FNB branch on Saturday, 29 October 2016. I was promised the porting would be done in 48 hours, which would be Monday 31 October 2016. When I realized I wasn’t receiving any signal on Monday, I contacted Customer Care where I was just given lousy excuses and vague useless tips on how to get connected. Apparently, the porting was successful, but me not receiving any signal at all proved to be a major ****-up on their side. One of their useless tips was to wait for another 24 hours, despite the porting being apparently successful. On Tuesday, 01 November, I called Customer Care again logging in the same complaint. Once again, after being given more ****ty excuses and being put on hold more than twice, I was just promised that the matter would be “escalated” and the admin team would “investigate” and they would contact me within 24 hours. 26 hour later (yes, again I was ignored), I called again to follow up with my complaint. I’m sure you’ve guessed by now…more lousy excuses… “the network may not be active in your location”… “we may have to investigate over 5 working days”… “we are sorry for the inconvenience” !!!!!

First of all, how the hell does FNB have the decency to launch a telecommunications network without, I don’t know..uhm…testing it! It is common sense to the most below average brain to test a product before you commercialize it. No, not to the idiots at FNB. They have their own rules. “We will launch a service, market the **** out of it, while using our financial reputation as collateral, making you buy into our little ****show, then you will later find out that our ever so precious indispensable service is quite awful”. Second of all, how is it that the network may be faulty in the Sandton region?? Thirdly, FNB Connect IS working in the Sandton region and I’ve just been blatantly **** to! Clearly they’re way too *********** to grow some *****, and actually fixing their ****-up. Fourthly, I run a business. I took time off my schedule to port my number at the beginning of the weekend, in hopes that I’ll be connected in the new week. It has already been 5 consecutive days (Thursday 03 November 2016) and I’m still not connected! How the hell am I supposed to make calls, emails and send important data on the go?! I literally cannot do that! How the hell am I supposed to run my business, and my personal life with a dead phone? I CAN’T! And it’s all FNB’s fault. I seriously already regret porting to a useless, inconsiderate, loathsome, highly *********** network. Fifthly, FNB should stick to what they know best. Banking. If it takes more than 5 days to port one cellphone number, they know nothing about maintaining an efficient telecommunications network. FNB has seriously ****ed me off! I have never been more upset about something so basic. It says a lot about how much respect and hope and trust I’ve lost for them.

What’s ironic is that FNB was busy harassing me with calls not so long ago, trying to get me to switch to their network. Now that I have taken that step, they decide to **** me over. From now on, if someone seeks advice from me on how they can get ****ed over, then I would absolutely recommend FNB. They know best when it comes to ****ing people over.

P.S: This is the type of language that will make FNB understand my frustration.
