FNB Connect - Stay Away

I moved to the FNB Connect network about 2 years ago. The service was good but around 3 months ago, I started getting a degraded service i.e. dropped calls, slow data and poor network strength. All things being equal, I was using the device in the same area as before.

Upon contacting FNB Connect, they asked me to run a bunch of tests and eventually sent out a technician to investigate.

The feedback was that the connection was in-fact very poor, actual feedback;

"Network tests conducted at the client's premises and found signal levels to be poor due to unfavorable terrain. Rsrp-111 / Rsrq-12. There is currently a transition phase occurring with our roaming partners for roaming in the area, unfortunately no time frame available."

Bear in mind, reception was previously adequate, my 'terrain' has not changed since I took out the FNB Connect subscription 2 years ago.

Currently, my connection has worsened and is now virtually unusable, I get by using a second line on another network.

What is most disappointing is FNB Connect's inability to realise the urgency of this issue and provide me with a timeline as to when this will be resolved. The fact that I am still being billed for my entire subscription is also unacceptable - I have an unusable service.

Speaking to other FNB Connect users, it’s become apparent that the poor connection is not just in my area or terrain, but is being experienced by many of your customers. What could have been a seminal moment in the South African Telecoms industry has turned into a brand liability for FNB.

I have since, cancelled my FNB Connect subscription.
