FNB Connect service provided is appalling!

On the 25th of November 2016, l was contacted by a consultant from FNB Connect offering a special deal specifically designated for FNB clients.

In short, the offer consisted of a monthly installment of a R105 for a 2GB data bundle, exceptional cellphone coverage and reception as FNB connect were making use of both Vodacom and Cell-C service towers and the choice of canceling the contract any time l saw fit should the service not suffice to my needs (all calls were telephonically recorded for quality reasons of course).

My husband specifically on numerous occasions during the sale informed the consultant that his current place of employment has very poor cellphone coverage due to topographical reasons and that his cellphone plays a key part pertaining to performing his duties on a daily basis, with that said, he also notified the consultant that our place of residence has similar problems due to the latter. Also, should we not be content with the service, we had the option to terminate the contract immediately with no additional costs as promised by the consultant.

To my disappointment, I struggled for two weeks to have both my SIM-swops carried out by constantly phoning, being placed on hold awaiting to have the correct person attend to my matter and finally having the phone dropped in my ear on a constant basis. After the SIM swops were finally sorted, my husband and l noticed we were not able to attain proper reception at our residence and place of work with it worse off as our previous service provider and having our phones automatically switching over to roaming by itself. I also noticed that FNB charged R234 per package per month and not a R105 as per our original agreement.

After numerous frustrating encounters, I decided to visit my closest FNB branch so to resolve the matter. The designated FNB Connect consultant simply picked up a phone and contacted FNB Connect call center which l was able to do myself at my place of work! I then instructed the gentleman on the other side of the phone to cancel the packages, to be informed that l had to pay a cancellation fee of R150 per package. I informed the gentleman telephonically that l was disgusted with their service for FNB basically falsely advertised a product and requested the gentleman to trace the original call dated 25th of November 2016. The gentlemen then advised me that another consultant will contact me from their call center within the next 24 hours to confirm the cancelations. It’s now been 4 days later and to no avail.

Can anyone please share their views and experiances as the service provided is appalling!
