FNB Connect Selling Information
FNB Connect is selling personal information. I have two FNB sim cards which I received as part of contracts for Garmin Smart watches I purchased a year ago.
Rica had been done on these sim cards as the normal process. Now the numbers for these cards has not been shared with any family, friends or companies.
It is used as a second sim in both myself and my wife's phones simply as a backup in case our main providers might not have signal. We have not had a scenario where we had to use it as yet. We simply tested it to make sure they work by phoning each other.
Now for the interesting part, the amount of marketing and spam calls we receive on these sims is just ridicules. This is not just random calls, but agents specifically asking for me by name. Information they should not have unless it was sold or shared with them by FNB.
Unfortunately this is not the only case, a year ago I saw two debit orders that went off on my bank (FNB) for Vodacom contracts which I do not have.
I queried this with FNB and they said it was legitimate contracts and the debit orders is from Vodacom. I then queried Vodacom and found that there was *****ulent contracts opened on my name. When Vodacom investigated further and showed me the documents submitted when the contracts was opened it was all my personal details on a **** payslip, **** bank statement and **** ID.
My bond with FNB was on this **** bank statement with the correct amount and account number for the bond. My FNB Connect contracts was on there with the correct accounts and amounts. ALL THE INFO FNB WOULD HAVE.
Now to make it clear I don't get any paper/postal statements. I don't throw away any personal documents or statements if on paper (I BURN IT) and I was not hacked or had emails leaked. I work in IT security and know how to protect my info.
After SAPS investigated we saw on the **** bank statement the home address used was a place I stayed at 10 years ago, there is no company or account I have that still uses that address as it was updated twice in the last 10 years.
Now as mentioned I have a bond with FNB and they know my current address and the bond address is the same. All my statements from FNB reflect this, Cheque acc, Bond acc, Credit Card acc and Investment acc. The only department which still cannot get it right is FNB CONNECT which still uses the address from 10 year ago yet the contracts was opened with FNB a year ago.
This is the same address used by the ********s that opened the **** contracts with Vodacom.
When I informed FNB ***** department of this I was told that sorry we do not investigate ourselves, disappointed and angry was an understatement.
How can I trust this bank???
