FNB Connect Purchase

I bought a Samsung Fit2Pro through FNB Connect about 4 months ago.

I had to return the watch as it stopped working. First I had numerous problems with the courier. I had to follow up regularly when the item will be picked up. Then the service provider (Digital Planet) itself. The repairer SSS Cellular's quote to fix the watch is R 5 200 for a watch that I paid R 2 900 for. If I do not opt to have the watch repaired, I have to pay R 650. This for a watch that is still under warranty ?

After spending the day talking to numerous people, I am still in the dark. Nobody was able to assist.

I would not recommend making use of FNB Connect for any purchases as there is NO after sale service.

Good day,

FNB contacted us a while back concerning our complaint, and it was established by them that the watch was damaged by us and that the repairs would therefore not fall under the warrantee. They informed us that they would be sending the watch back to us.

That was about 4 weeks ago.

My concern is this - the watch was sent from one person / company to the next, and could have been damaged by any of the people / couriers handling it. As per my previous complaint, this was going on for months. The watch was definitely not damaged when it was dispatched by me.

It has now been months going back and fro, with me paying for a watch not damaged by myself and which is now also lost in the system.

Where do we go from here ? Is there an Ombudsman for consumers ?
