FNB Connect Number Porting Failure

My whole experience in regards to moving from MTN to FNB as a cellular provider has been terrible. I thought nothing could get worse than MTN, but I was mistaken & feel I made the wrong decision.

My order was placed around 3 months ago, there was a problem with delivering the sim intially, eventually it got to my residence. Now I have the sim & want to use my existing number as discussed with the sales person, but I see that this FNB sim has it's own new number, I was not told this or after the fact I was told that I would have to do the porting myself. I found out about the porting as I had to call FNB to ask, I tried doing the self-service porting which didn't work, so once again I had to call FNB & the FNB employee did it for me. The next day I am up & running, I think everything is great, much later that day my friend contacts me via Whatsapp telling me that she can't contact me, goes straight to voicemail. I check & test, I can make calls but not receive, I check my FNB profile & see that call forwarding is set to voicemail. I attempt to change this setting but it doesn't work as any changes made revert back to original settings (by the way this number is a business number, so no business for me for 48 hours...so far). I wait for next morning (8am when support lines are open), that's today. I call, the lady says do this ##02# & reboot, I do this & it fails;I call again another lady does something on her end & tells me to reboot, I do this & still not working; I call again, the lady says change carrier to Vodacom, I do this & my iPhone searches & finds no network (which is weird as all over the internet it states that Cell C is used for the FNB netowork) & she'll also email the technicians to contact me. Right now I still in the same position, my clients can't call me. All in all, MTN was better; more reliable, better coverage, faster speeds. I don't like Vodacom, that's why I was with MTN for so long; I was pleased to to know that FNB used Cell C, until I found out from the helpline that FNB actually uses Vodacom.

By the way, please contact me on ********** 860, as you'll only get voicemail if calling on my FNB number!

One last thingI I've used all my airtime calling FNB for help on something that is their problem, being an FNB customer I should not be charged for calling my provider for assistance, but I have been so no more minutes.

This shows that from all angles this whole experience has been dismal!

Thank you, hope to hear from someone soon.

Hi Rahim,
It'a now four hours & counting, no contact from FNB, as well as no resolution.
I see you stated 24-48 hours, that's just poor. I should rather just take all my business elsewhere, move my bank account etc.
Regards.

This all reflects badly on FNB & I've seen that there are other similar posts on Hellopeter with complaints which are in line with mine. The fact that this problem is still creeping out the woodwork shows that nothing has been done so that this doesn't happen in the future. Yes, the actual network provider (Vodacom) is probably the root cause, but this is not the customer's problem as FNB have branded this service as their own.
