"FNB Connect" does not Connect

On the 30th April 2017, my FNB Connect service was "soft-locked". After several attempts to contact their Customer Service division, I eventually got through to the Customer Service line on Tuesday 2nd May 2017.

I was promptly informed that they submitted a debit order request on my FNB account, but it was rejected. I categorically denied this. The agent blatantly told me that their system is NOT wrong. From my understanding, if a debit order is presented and the account was wrong or insuffiecient funds were available, it would be presented (debited) to the account and then immediately reversed (as a credit). My argument was that THERE WAS NO DEBIT ORDER PRESENTED let alone rejected. After several calls to the call centre (and they should have record thereof), I went to FNB Kenilworth Centre and the Manager on duty called FNB Connect and advised them that there was no debit order presented, nothing was rejceted and that the account had more than sufficient funds to cover the R399 debit order. After several more attempts, I eventually spoke to a NORMAN HLUNGWANE who advised that they have recorded the mistake - acknowledged that nothing was debited to my account - and that somebody would attend to it in the next 10 minutes and that my account would be debited within 10 minutes. Now 3 hours later and several calls to the Call Centre, nothing had still happened from the side of FNB Connect.

I immediately requested to speak to a Managr and / or Team Leader ... I was told to hang-up because they are trying to call me (i.e a Team Leader). Two hours later, still no call.

I called the Call Centre and was advised that Team Leaders leave the office at 4pm and that the billing department does not take calls from the clients. Calling their Call Centre number from my device on 147, option 2 clearly states that this is indeed their billing department. This begs the question, HOW CAN NTABISENG (the call centre agent) advise me that the billing department does not take calls from the public?

I have an acknowledgement from NORMAN that there was an error. I am without a service. There is NO apology from FNB Connect. I am NOT being compensated for the inconvenience caused. And the level of incompetency from the FNB Connect Call Centre agents is beyond belief.

Perhaps, FNB Connect should consider sticking to what they know best ... BANKING - and not engage in the Telecommunications division, as it is clearly evident that they have little to no experience in this field.

I am truly appauled by the lack of customer service and beg the question: WHY IS IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SPEAK TO A CALL CENTRE SUPERVISOR / TEAM LEADER / MANAGER?

My number is ********** 411.

To add injury to insult, I told the call centre agent NTABISENG that I am considering porting my number to another network - only to be told rather arragantly: "SHOULD I COMMENCE THE PROCESS OF PORTING YOUR NUMBER" ... no solution offered.

DISGUSTED * AGGREIVED * UNHAPPY CLIENT.

#FNBConnectMustFall
