FNB closed my account and took all my money
FNB closed my account and took all my money. They said it was because the account was inactive, but they took away my ability to transact on the account via the app and removed the secure chat facility, so I was unable to get any form of assistance. I informed FNB that I reside overseas and cannot go into a branch and that the international number does not get answered when I call it. So they just closed my account without any form of contact and took my funds from the account. Now they have restored the secure chat function and inform me that they cannot help me, as I no longer have an account .So they have basically ****** everything from my account and left me stranded. Sounds like a good case for the Ombudsman. I would not bank with them, how do you put your trust into a bank that refuses contact with you and then takes all your money?
First they removed my ability to transact on my account as well as any form of communication with them. Once the communication channels were restored, FNB had cleared all of the funds out of the account, with no communication whatsoever to me as to why this has been done or how to remedy it. Forcing me to get them to react via HelloPeter, to which I received a response.
Since their response I have communicated with three different people on three separate occasions, requiring me to fill out three different forms each time, informing me that the previous forms were not correct. Now they have restored communications via the app and re-instituted my account, however it remains to have a zero balance.
To which I am now told to pay a total of R310 to reopen the account. I relayed to FNB that this fee must be waived (as it is their systems which have failed) and for my bank balance to be restored. FNB's tactic is to now relay the same message to me repeatedly in the hopes I pay this fee or just go away.
Secondly, I do not want an FNB bank account. All I want is for my funds to be made available so that I can transfer my money out of the bank and never have anything to do with FNB again.
In addition to all this, FNB have the gall to charge me bank fees on an account with a zero balance, when they are aware of everything which has happened to this account.
This is the last chance to get FNB to correct their mistakes, before I institute legal actions with the Ombudsman.
