FNB charges to close accounts

I decided to close down my savings and credit card with FNB and also downgrade my cheque account from private wealth to just a normal silver account. The fees with FNB is just too high, right now I pay R6000 a year in account fee just on the cheque account! I do not see the value in it. With this package comes a private banker who you can never get hold of. Or if you do get through to them they cannot assist and you end up having to call the various departments yourself.

This time however the private banker did help in closing my savings account and saving pocket, and downgraded my cheque to a normal silver account. The credit card however is a problem, I settled the account in full but now I see I am getting charged R642.28 for "account closure fee". This was at no point discussed with me, and I do not see how FNB gets that amount to close an account! This reaffirms that I am making the right decision to close my accounts and move to another bank.

Reviewer Update
After getting confirmation that the account closure fee was in error, and getting the charges credited. The credit card account was closed and confirmed closed by my private banker. Now, a month later FNB reopened the very same credit card account and now states that there is an amount outstanding that has to bee paid before the account can be closed. How can a FNB be so ***********? I have once again requested to speak to someone senior in the credit card division which has gone unanswered. No surprise. I will not be paying anything extra for this.
