FNB charges me R125+ to cover a R10 or R20 (over) SERVICE FEE
I usually dont complain (I just let stuff go) - but hey buti, if I get bitten by the same snake more than once, then I must share it! I have been a customer of FNB for many, many years - I simply love the simplicity transacting with them. So this "thing" had happened to me at least 3 or 4 times before, ( course of 2-3 years). I would buy goodies (groceries and things) and pay for it by card. Then days thereafter, even a week or 2, I would have a small positive balance and my FNB service fees would be deducted. Then the reserved funds for the goods which I have swiped for, would be settled (however this work) - and it will happen that I go into a small negative balance - like $10 or even maybe R30 - this because the service fees has been deducted. Then FNB would charge me more than R100 penalties to cover their service fee! Now I know I have to have enough money in the bank to cover this, but times ARE tough and charging R125+ to cover their service fees - aikona Buti. Now last week I have decided enough is enough, and I am moving to Capitec. I went to a local branch and the lady convinced me to rather opt in for the lower monthly service fee (this wont change the issue explained, but it will save me more than R100 a month) I opted in (my service fees are deducted on the 7th, and this was shortly thereafter) - and after I have paid for the month's service fees already, I am now billed again for a month's service fee - exaclty 10 days later. No man, no. I am so tired for just paying up. I am now R80 in a negative - and this is a lot of money for me! So I will lave FNB finally - after many many years, and I will now move to Capitec or Thyme bank or anything else. Goodbye.
