FNB Charge

monday 26th September i went to an atm where i inserted my card with pin but when i had come to selecting how much i want to withdraw the atm froze. knowing the likelyhood of *****, i then waited at the atm to make sure nobody comes to the atm after me and proceeded to transfer money via cellphone banking from my cheq acc to my saving(becuase one cannot withdraw directly from the savings). This was at 8:02pm and I9 received the sms confirmation in that regard. I then left the ATM after i noticed nobody had come to the atm.

AT 9:21pm on the same day after monitoring my account, i noticed there was no attempt at ***** and proceeded to transfer the funds back to my cheque account because i had debits to honor that evening. I have an sms proving that this too was succesful.

The debit orders all went off succesfully in the morning of the 27th and also received sms's to that regard but what shocked me was that I have been charged R350 on the 27th for declined debits.

I have contacted the complaints division and have been given 2 rebuttable narratives of what transpired.

1st story) I made a call on the 27th to the FNB call centre and was told the reason i was charged is because when i transferred money back into my cheque account, it only cleared into my account on the 27th as per internet banking.

- this is rebuttable on the basis of my balance on the 26th after i transferred back to my cheq and a screen shot I have of the confirmation sms. Further, there is clearly a delay of communication on their end that their system only picks up my transfer the following day, which then justifies why the debits would be declined.

2nd story) After visiting the branch on the 27th, the lady at the FNB branch in Benmore was very helpful and advised she too could see on their system that i transferred the money back on the 26th but somehow it only reflected the following day. Obviously at this point we are both convinced that the reason for the debits declining is because of my money reflecting a day later, few hours after the debits went off. She then logged a complaint which she advised me would initiate a call from the complaints line.

Then i received the call from complaints and this is where story 2 starts. Firstly the lady was rude and condescending but I quickly dealt with that. She came with a different explanation that states that I was charged because when I withdrew the money out of my account to avoid ATM *****, the debit orders due declined because there was no money in my account. for a whole day up until 8pm there was money in my account and I exerceise caution for an hour and suddenly that has cost me R350. What is surprising is that I had confirmation of the debits running on the 27th early hours.

I was also told that if my debit order selected date is the 30th for example, i need to avail money in the account 3 days before because the system goes into my account 3 days prior.

I cannot accept R350 charges for this. I don't miss debit orders, there is clear evidence of me transferring the same amount back and forth to show that I was trying to prevent ATM *****.

I need to know from FNB what is the story and i want my R350 back. R350 in charges? really? and they want to provide simplistic explanations for it.
