FNB card faulty
My brand new FNB card (not even 4 months old yet) suddenly started giving me problems about two weeks ago.
Every time I insert the card into a speedpoint it tells me te remove my card as the chip is “unreadable” or “malfunctioning”. I also cannot proceed to swipe my card as it does not want to do that either.
Therefore I can only tap my card (if the POS speedpoint has this functionality). This is frustrating as the tap-and-go way of transacting is not as secure as using the chip would be and not all merchants have tap enabled machines.
When contacting FNB about my problem I was told to order a new card and then pay the replacement fee of R110 which I think is absolutely ridiculous. My brand new card is giving me problems and now I have to pay te get a new one for a card that isn’t lost or ****** but have issues out of my control.
This is unacceptable. I will rather move my business to another bank.
