FNB can upgrade on the phone but can't downgrade. And can't do in branch either it seems...

I went into the Caledon branch on the 31st of October. First off I wanted to see why I stopped getting the offer for the "payday" emergency loans after I'd had them for about a year almost. And the consultant said that they only run for a few months at a time and that I was lucky to get it for so long. So now I'm fvcked because I'm short on rent cause you never stated that it was an ephemeral service and not one I could count on.

Anyway.

The nature for my complaint is that I wanted to downgrade my account from a gold cheque back to an easy pay as you use for R5 per month.

The only reason I upgraded was cause the person that called me said I would have a much better chance of getting an overdraft service which turned out not to work. So the gold account is useless to me as there are no benefits I would use. So as I mentioned I went into the Caledon branch yesterday to sort this out. And so the consultant told me that they could not do downgrades in store anymore. It had to be done over the phone.

And so she called you guys while I was there and the person ok the other end basically said that their systems were down and that I should call back the next day. Today.

So I call the direct number that the person gave me. Got through to someone, they said I need to speak to someone else. I ask to be transferred. They drop the line.

So I call general enquiries. They say same thing. They now give me the number to call Instead.

I call. They tell me that it can't be done over the phone it has to be done in branch. I explained I was there yesterday and what they said to me.

They say it can't be cause they can't do downgrades telephonically. (Not sure how that works cause you guys gladly spam called me over and over to get the gold card upgrade and now you kamstig can't go back on the phone)

So I ask this woman what I must do now because everyone tells me the same thing. She says call general enquiries to see what I must do. I WAS GIVEN THIS NUMBER BY GENERAL ENQUIRIES!

She than says the only way I can sort it out is to speak to the branch manager about it.

So now since you guys don't have phone numbers for Individual branches, I can't call them and I live in GREYTON which is like 40km away. And my wife is about to give birth so yesterday we went to the hospital for a check up and it was the only time I could get there for this.

I want clarity on this ASAP as I cannot afford to pay for a service that is of no use to me.
