FNB can't seem to help us - ECommerce Merchant Services Useless
I went to FNB on 4 April to apply for a eCommerce Merchant Number. Mr Moenief Schroeder attended to my query and emailed an E Commerce Application Form. I was told by him that the process will take three weeks. The application form was emailed on 5 April to the address supp**** by Mr Schroeder. On 11 April I received an email from Charlot Nhlapho, Administrator, Merchant Services, Business Banking, asking me to update our website with certain requirements in order to proceed with the application. I had to to this not later than 11 April. On 11 April I have send a email to Ms Nhlapho stating that the website has been updated and included a link to the website. I had no feedback from her. I phoned Ms Nhlapho on Monday at 11h00. She was not aware of the email that was send on Friday. I wanted to enquire if everything regarding the website requirements is in order. I waited for her to open the email. After she has read it, I was told that she would give me telephonic feedback later on the same day. She didn't make any contact with me as promised. On Tuesday 19 April I tried several times to contact her. The call centre supp**** me with an alternative number. That number was also not answered. I send an email to her. She never rep**** to the email. On that same day I tried to get help through the call centre through several calls. No one was able to refer me to anyone who could assist me. I contacted the complaints department and laid a complaint against poor service. When I called later the afternoon, I was told that the application was cancelled. On 20 April I received an email from Zanele Sithole that the application was approved. I also received one from Mr Schroeder to say that I will be contacted the next day by Yolinda Martin who would schedule an appointment with me. On 21 April I have received an email regarding my complaint. Daneel stated that she tried to contact me several times on my mobile number. No message was left on my phone. She wrote that she has escalated the matter for assistance and will provide feedback as soon as possible. I am still waiting to hear from her. I went into the bank the next day. Mr Schroeder said that Ms K Malema will contact me the next day. I received a phone call from her the next day at around 16h00 but could not take it as I was in a meeting. I contacted her Friday morning. A meeting was scheduled to sign the contract on Tuesday 26 April. It almost took a week to arrange for the contract to be signed. Ms Malema informed me at the meeting that there are still other processes that needs to take place before I can obtain the Merchant number. She did not attach a time frame to it, but said it could perhaps be ready by today. When she was contacted by an employer of my firm today, she said that it could still take three weeks and that we must not contact her before next Wednesday, 11 May. The process that we were originally told was going to take three weeks, seems to have the potential to take seven weeks. I have experienced this process as frustrating, disappointing and not getting the support from a bank of which I have been a loyal client for many years. Ms Malema has now also taken notice of my complaints, and has promised to look into it and speed up the process. It still feels like a hopeless case to obtain our eCommerce number as so much time has already been wasted and promises seem empty.
