FNB Business a joke

I have been a client of FNB since 2007.I have seen the general FNB customer service slip over the last few years but never until this day have I seen, or can fathom the lowest level of service and business conduct, as I have today of an Eastgate Branch Business relations Manager. As an ambassador who's responsibilities include the professional handling of FNB Business clients. As a Director of a number of personal and business accounts with FNB and for some time now have requested additional signing authority for our accounts since mid 2019. Not only have we not been able to receive any assistance, but today, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with the Eastgate FNB branch Business Relations Manager.

On arrival (06.05.2020) I was barely welcomed by Business relations manager, Mathapelo Mathubedi, making me stand at her front door as if I had to wait on her to complete what ever she was doing before entering the room, barely making the effort to notice me. A brief, how can I help without even a friendly gesture or welcome from her. I was there to request assistance to add a signatory to our business account, since our main signatory is stuck overseas due to COVID restrictions and can not do any online banking from there.

After explaining the problem to her as thoroughly as I could, she was quick to brush me off and simply said that the signatory needs to be here and she cant assist me. I asked if there was any advise or help she could offer to find a solution, perhaps speak over the phone to our director to verify him, and nothing. She blatantly refused. Offering no solution or any help whatsoever, I left feeling not only dismissed but disappointed and angry that she had offered no alternatives and I suddenly had no chance of accessing my business accounts.

Stepping out of her office, I reached my brother through a whatsapp call, re-entered her office and asked if she would be willing to speak with him, she bluntly said no. After trying to tell her that we had contacted *** twice in the past 9 months without a reply, she just said the signatory needs to contact the online banking service. Which he already had a number of times, who referred him to go to the Branch in person – which again is impossible. (confirming that NO ONE in FNB has understood the issue- the director is OUT OF COUNTRY). When leaving, I had asked for her name as to reference any future correspondence or complain, and she questioned why I would want her name. I had asked for a business card, which she ignored, and wrote her credentials on a sticky note.

I am completely and thoroughly disappointed at the level of service I have experienced today at a FNB. Completely unfriendly, unhelpful and unprofessional Manager that is an ambassador to FNB Business clients, left me feeling gob smacked to have a person of such nature run and mange our money and accounts. I definitely did not feel welcome at your branch and walked away feeling far from a customer and completely helpless.

As a business entity we have debated on leaving FNB for some time now and today is that day. We will be moving our accounts to a bank that UNDERSTANDS customer services and who take pride in their bank and their jobs.
