FNB Building loans is a massive black mark on an otherwise good bank.

Once again, I have to resort to Hello Peter to get FNB Building Loans to do their job.

We should have know we were making a mistake in going with FNB, when it took 5 months to get approval, of which several weeks were spent waiting for feedback while FNB couldn't be bothered to let us know that one of our documents weren't sufficient.

When the progress payment started, it got worse.

First payment required a Hello Peter post just to get an inspection scheduled, and various phonecalls beteen me and the complaints department while I pushed, pulled, nagged and faught the process through. Finally got our money after more that two weeks of pain. (btw, its no use trying to call the Building Loans Manager - Neho, he NEVER answers his phone)

Second progress payment I managed to get through just by calling and following up daily, up the actual payment, which I managed to eventually get after resorting to twitter.

Third progress payment start off surprisingly well, with a phonecall on the same day that we submitted (Thu, 9 June) the forms, but it went South from there. First, we were informed telephonically that they didn't have the Engineer's certificate for the slab. After we pointed out that we have sent it, they check again and confirmed that they had it, and that the inspection will happen the next day. So we waiting, full of optimism that FNB has finally managed to get it right.

When he hadn't heard anything by yesterday (Tuesday, 14 June), I called again to follow up. I was told that the inspection only happened on Monday, and that someone will contact me soon to confirm payment. An hour later, they called my husband (why they call my husband when I have been handling everything and he isn't even and FNB client, I don't know) and once again claimed that they didn't have the certificate for the slab. He said he would send and email we can reply to, to resend it. I waited more than an hour for the email, but finally got it, and submitted the documents again. That was around 1 pm. I also asked in the mail that they expedite the process, since THEY were responsible for the delay, having lost our documents.

I should have known better by now. It's now Wednesday, 15 June, and no communication yet. Even RBJacobs on twitter couldn't help this time.

In the meantime, FNB is benifitting, since I've had to go into overdraft to pay suppliers while we wait, on which FNB is happily charging interest.

All I want is my progress payment, that I was told telephonically was already approved. Why does it have to be so difficult EVERY. SINGLE. TIME?
