FNB Building insurance brokers debiting before bond registration.

Hi there,

I bought my house through FNB home loans and innitially I chose to use FNB insurance brokers to cover my building insurance. As I am required by FNB home loans to have building insurance before the transfer can go through. The gentleman I spoke to was Jerry Ngwenya, who acted as the insurance boker for the buiding insurance. I explained to him that I am still in the transfer process of gettimng the home and the home is not under my name yet, I am just required to have building insurance before the process can go through. So the question I raised was the billing, that I should only be billed once the transfer goes through which is logical and fair like how the mortgage protector works. Instead I was billed for two months before the house was even under my name. Prior to the bond being registered under my name , I changed building insurances to Outsurance who only billed and debited me once the bond was registered on the exact day of registration which was September 7th of 2016.

On the other hand FNB Brokers were still billing e before my bond registration for a building that was not under my name. And for the month of Sept 2016 still billled me pro rata fee leading up to 7th of Sept when the bond was registered and the house was officially under my name and I was officially insured by Outsurance. But I had cancelled with them (FNB insurance Brokers) a long time prior to that and the bond was not registered under my name so there was no building for me to insure.

After sending emails and contantly calling and being sent from post to pillar. I spoke to my FNB broker Jerry Ngwenya on 29 Sept 2016 at 15:10 and I explained to him that in a nutshelll I was bieng debited before the bond was registered so essentially just being billed for nothing. He advised that he would escalate the matter and someone would call me to resolve this. I have been waiting ever since.

On April 11th of 2017, I sent another email to Jerry Ngwenya, Dorcas Chauke and FNB Insurance Brokers explaining the situation and no one bothered to repond to mail to date.

What I dont understand is how Outsurance got it right and debited me on the exact date of registration of the bond while insurance brokers at FNB still billed me before registration and they work with the bank that I have my home loan with so they should have all the information as to when the bond was registered. (One would think that)
