FNB Brooklyn Mall

Appalling. Inefficient. Disappointing. These words do not even portray the service experienced with the Brooklyn Mall FNB branch (staff and planning/queuing).

I'll try keep the story as short and to point as possible.

I'm from Durban (KZN) and was in Brooklyn applying for my Irish passport at the Irish Embassy....but required a commissioner of oaths to sign my form......so the Brooklyn Mall is virtually across the road so one would assume the total process should take less than 30 minutes......WRONG.

I honestly thought being a Private Client with FNB would have some benefits (such as seeing the Bank Manager etc.).....but ended up being forced to queue in the general banking section. A reminder that all I needed was a signature.

So, looking at the ticket (given when being told to "wait in line over there")...it claimed 6 minutes "waiting time". WHAT A LIE!!!

After 20 minutes, I queried with an employee to please assist me expedite the process simply because the Embassy closes at 12:00 (now being 11:35).

I was then told "Sorry, you have to wait in line because our system is linked to Home Affairs and we need to scan you before anything". Of which I responded with "Surely you can scan me in to verify whilst a teller is waiting for something? I only need to get this (shows document) signed and the Embassy closes in 25min".

The above plea did not help....nor did they call the Bank Manager (even after requesting with another employee).

No extremely frustrated and almost willing to try another bank (remember I bank with FNB)......I stick it out because I have to fly back to Durban that evening....and would have to incur additional costs (day off work, trip to JHB again, accommodation etc.).

At 11:55......YES 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE EMBASSY CLOSES......the bank helps me (so much for the 6min waiting time).

I then sprinted to the embassy (looking like I had ****** someone) to try make it there in time. Also keeping in mind I HAD NO IDEA WHERE I WAS!!!!!!

If a Private Client banker is treated this way......I can only imagine how appalling your service is towards the other card holders.

In summary, your advertising is FALSE!!! You do not help your clients......or let's see what happens with this message (because no one gave a #### in the branch).
