FNB blocks customer's home ip address on all FNB services.

Today I had the worst banking support interactions in decades.

FNB locked me out of cellphone banking and internet banking on my home network by blocking the IP address outright on their servers. My ISP recently changed. Now my Internet banking is untrusted because FNB decided it does not like my computer or home network. And FNB refuses to allow any decent daily limits on internet banking. In fact payments got all jumbled up - what a mess I'm about to miss a debit order on another account because of FNB incompetence.

Mobile banking has stopped working on my home network because my IP is blocked after I reached out to FNB about my Internet banking that shows lower limits because FNB 'considers my device untrusted'.

The staff member I talked with must have not liked my face because instead of resolving my issue she got my whole network blocked.

The block is so bad I needed to use another network to get in touch over FNB secure chat tonight. And to figure out why my immediate payment still had not arrived - thanks FNB!

FNB Support staff call this security while just changing network allows me and and any hackers to access services. This seems an odd choice for security given that FNB already applies 2FA, Facial Recognition which worked on the same network prior to FNB first blocking my Internet Banking (because it considers my computer an untrusted device) and then my whole network.

As a customer I would expect verification when the bank is unsure. However today FNB already requested facial recognition, location, approvals on mobile and login on mobile alongside internet banking login. But when FNB uses multiple factors surely it should be able to resolve this issue easily.

Blocking customers from transacting and even being able to communicate with you seems a contravention of the consumer protection act. You can't charge for a service and refuse to render it at the same time.

And then to add insult to injury FNB refuses to unblock my IP. But is quite happy to allow me to roam on another connection and make mobile payments from that connection. This makes absolutely no sense. So FNB does not like my home network and wants to force me to be a mobile only user who pays for yet another internet connection just to bank.

En****ification continues all around us!
