FNB blocking international payment with unreasonable query turnaround time!

All my cards, FNB and Discovery have been blocked without explanation and I am not able to do any international transactions. There is no person who I can talk to to unblock / figure out what can be done. I was given an email address and a phone number (and warned in advance that nobody really responds to the phone at the Forex team, and indeed ... after a ~2hr or so of listening to their call waiting songs, I can attest that is true). The automated email response from their Forex limit team says they will respond to me in 2 days. Meanwhile, I am trying to make an accommodation reservation for international travel and I have <24 hours to complete the payment. What a joke!

If you have international travel requirements, DO NOT rely on FNB! (and Discovery, which also runs through FNB).

Thanks for the prompt response from your team. Alas, it's been 48 hours (the time requested by the Forex limit team to resolve the issue) and the issue has still not been resolved.

I did get a call form somebody at the Private Bank yesterday saying they will follow up my case for me. Alas they also didn't come back to me after that "reassuring" call.

Today I called the Private Bank guys again, the unfortunate lady who picked up and had to take my wrath says she sees no updates on my account and she doesn't understand why. So she has to call around internally to find out.

All in all, extremely unsatisfactory experience. My husband and I are both foreign nationals and travel internally for work and private reasons. 48 hours with no access to our money is unacceptable. I will be looking for a new banking solution to avoid FNB and their forex mess.
