FNB blames own customer for ***** at their Hacked ATM

On the 5th of July 2016, I went to Ferndale Village FNB ATM. I had just picked up my new cheque card from the bank that morning and wanted to go to the ATM to change my PIN. I inserted my card and entered my PIN, as per usual, the machine returned my card immediately without any transaction taking place. There was a man behind me in the queue so I stepped aside for him to go, he proceeded to draw money and told me that the machine is working, he offered to give me assistance, so I told him to please leave me alone. I inserted my card again, the machine then asked for my cell phone nr so as to send an OTP, I entered my number and when I pressed enter and THE FNB MACHINE SWALLOWED MY CARD. At this point I started suspecting the man that wanted to help me, I walked into the car park road looking around for him, a car guard approached me and asked if I was ok, he said that he saw the man talking to me and that the same man was talking to people around the ATM earlier, he said that earlier in the day the ATM was OUT OF ORDER but that people came around to fix it. At point I went straight to the nearest branch to cancel my card. Whilst on the phone at the branch to FNB *****, they confirmed that R3000 had been drawn which I did not authorise. A case was opened, I filled in a form to explain the above mentioned. Today I got a response from FNB saying:

We confirm your card was not retained by the ATM and was ****** by someone that may have interrupted you, or offered you assistance, at the ATM when your PIN was "shoulder surfed". We have noted that the transaction/s occurred prior to you cancelling your card. Due to the card not being cancelled timeously, the Bank was unable to mitigate the loss on the account.

Again, my card was SWALLOWED BY THE FNB MACHINE, not ****** nor lost. They are making me out to be a **** so as not to shoulder the blame for their Hacked machine. Even if the man saw my PIN, the machine still took my card.

How can I be held responsible for the actions of a FNB ATM and a ******** that either works for them or has tampered with their machine?

I have logged another complaint and am awaiting a response.
