FNB Banking App - what a disaster !!!

Approximately late Nov 2017 FNB had a connection problem wrt to its FNB banking app. Not being aware of this fact and being abroad I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. This resulted in my mobile not being verified for all FNB Banking App features and according to the Banking App consultants this is a glitch with certain customers and to resolve I need to make a payment in excess of R350. Thereafter once 7 days has elapsed my mobile device will be automatically verified. I did not this and waited for the 7 days. Now knowing that the app does not work I turn to on-line banking to process my transactions only to realise I cannot make once-payments as this requires me to logon to my FNB Banking App and confirm the once-off payment. However, since my mobile device is not verified the notification comes through but I am unable to access as that feature is blocked till my mobile phone is verified. I then decide to drive to the vendor pay using my cheque card - no go as my daily limit has been exceeded. No worries I will use my credit card since the limits are higher but only the same result. Now I am unable to log onto the banking app and increase my limit......why....because my mobile device has not been automatically verified yet. So fourth option I call the premier banking department are to be transferred to the online banking department who needs to me to repeat the authentication process again. To cancel mobile device so that it can verified again, which by the way reflects verified but is not the consultant needs to ask some random questions generated by the system. For example, how many dependents do I have, I have I worked for the SADF, do I own property in the Eastern Cape. I answer honestly and the consultant then states that the system has rejected me and that I will need to go into a branch to verify my identity. In short, I need to waste my time walk in to a branch and wait to be helped and have the branch member call online banking and confirm I am who I say I am, like I have forgotten. In the mean-time I am unable to conclude my transactions and then need to cancel my plans to accommodate a forced branch visit.

Is the idea of the FNB banking app and online banking not to reduce time spent at a branch and be banking at your finger-tips? In summary due to a programming glitch in the FNB banking app I am being inconvenienced. Then to be safe I check my spouse's account to ensure everything is fine and her incontact option has been removed, on-line banking randomly logs her out and her mobile device is no longer verified for the installed banking app which she uses on a daily basis.

What is startling is that we each pay R199 a month in service fees for bad service and then FNB has the audacity to offer me Private Wealth accounts at a much higher monthly cost and FNB premier banking cannot even assist. I did I mention that FNB Premier banking can only assist with cheque account queries and as in my case when I called the 24/7 number wrt on-line banking I was asked to call back as the relevant department has already closed for the day, i.e. so the premier banking consultant could not transfer. Seriously FNB…….I have dealt with some ****py banks but like most service providers in South Africa once you have paid your monies the service is a beneficial as unachieved good intentions.
