FNB banking app ***** is real
This is for public awareness and for FNB to take responsibility of failing to secure the money I entrusted to them. On the 24th January 2025, my phone was ****** at Virgin Active New Market and the *****sters were able access the Discovery and FNB bank apps and spend R64,071.98 within few hours from FNB credit card. FNB is failing to respond to the questions I asked below and instead offered me an ex-gratia amount of R17,407.20 as a "gesture of goodwill". FNB should provide a response to these questions: 1. Can I have the statement or document which will also indicate the times of these *****ulent transactions because according to the inContact messages that I have received, some of these transactions happened after I have reported the *****. When I enquired from FNB ***** department, I was told I am receiving delayed messages without offering proof 2. Is it possible that as a private client, almost 17 transactions can happen within few hours, seconds apart, without FNB noticing a breach? Especially after all the reviews I have seen people reporting ***** to FNB and still FNB systems are failing. Are we not being profiled as private clients to detect unusual behavior for ***** prevention. These transactions describe nothing close to me with the record you have for over 25 years of me banking with FNB. 3. Why was I not called as 17 transactions at a go do not seem normal including attempts to increase credit card limit from zero debt. I believe FNB has “early ***** detection”. Does FNB only call clients when they sell them credit cards and insurances. 4. Why an interest charge of about R690.00 from those *****ulent transactions when this account was clean all along. I thought interests should be charged after 55 days of the credit amount not being paid 5. Why the person who withdrew the money transferred to STD was not contacted and prosecuted as it is clear, FNB has the lead of the people who committed this crime. Phones get lost all the time but we as clients trust FNB systems with our monies. 6. Why the person who withdrew the ewalet money also not tracked? 7. Don't FNB have insurance for things like this? Only one transaction went through from Discovery bank although more attempts were made. Maybe that is an alternate bank for this hopeless banking situation. From this bad experience, I would like the public to be extra vigilant with their phones. Phones with banking apps should be treated like bank cards. Report the missing phone immediately after noticing that it is missing. Do not try to find it first. I am expecting FNB to settle their credit card under my name. These monies should not have left their system in the first place.
