FNB bank - Outdated systems useless bank that doesn't protect their clients
Today I had to make a payment for my daughters school fees into an ABSA account from my FNB account. I incorrectly input the account number and called my FNB bank to stop the payment that was done over eft. They could not assist me at all. We asked them to stop the payment, which they could not do. I then asked them to reverse the payment which, they could not do immediately, I needed to fill out a reversal form which would take 10 working days to process and a further 30 days to maybe reverse the payment if it's successful. At a cost of R325.50 and that is regardless of you not receiving the reversal. This payment was done as a standard eft, not even an immediate pay and clear. This is astonishing that FNB bank does not protect the account holder, that is supposed to be the client of FNB bank. What is their responsibility to their clients? FNB bank is systems are outdated. I have a Nedbank account as well, and if I for example say I am paying an ABSA account on my online banking and I incorrectly input the account number it automatically pops up a message saying that the account does not match the bank. That's how first world banks like Nedbank operate. We will definitely be closing our FNB account and moving all our funds to a bank that protects it clients and their systems are first world.
